Home Sweet Home.

A new home brings with it boundless opportunities to redecorate, refresh and really make the space feel like your own. And that is exactly what couple Rosie and Lewis set out to do when they moved into a brand new home together. But when their mutual love of art took them on a search for high quality affordable prints to fill their walls, they found themselves hitting a brick wall both literally and figuratively. Nothing they found was quite right and they found themselves unable to source the type of art that would bring their new place to life in the way they desired. It wasn’t long before this frustration turned into a business idea. The aim? To provide a go-to online destination for a unique, curated selection of high quality art prints and limited edition pieces so that others like them could discover beautiful artwork in one place.

With a perfect mix of minds - Rosie from a creative PR background, and Lewis working in finance - the newfound passion of this power couple was sure to create a masterpiece. Not only did they want this project to provide a home for beautiful art prints, they wanted to use it to support local and exciting artists too, creating a place for them to get their work out there to the masses. As well as promoting local creatives, philanthropy was also top of their agenda. The couple decided that 10% of profits would eventually be donated to a chosen charity each month. This was shaping up to be a truly exciting project. All they needed now? A Shopify store that would bring it to life - and that’s where our Kubix team stepped in.

The Start Of Something Beautiful.

The first task for our designers was to take Rosie and Lewis’s logo concept and turn it into a clean, sophisticated reality - paving the way for the rest of their website design. They had a vision for orange tones to inspire the look and feel of the homepage, so our designers chose shades that would be both modern and unique, giving them a strong brand personality. The homepage needed to be simple and beautiful: a real showcase of the artwork that would be on offer, from figurative illustrations to colourful abstract paintings. Large product cards and uninterrupted collection pages were built into the design. In order to reflect the strong brand personality, our development team added bespoke theme changes such as unique fonts placed throughout the site.

With the frontend of their store shaping up beautifully, work needed doing on the backend that would streamline the sales process and give them the tools they needed to ship out direct, cutting out the middleman. We integrated an app that would enable them to link up each product with their chosen printing company, meaning any order placed would be shipped directly to the customer. This not only saved any excess stock from gathering dust on the shelves, but ensured a speedier delivery too.

Throughout this Shopify build, the couple’s core principles of sustainability and philanthropy were clear from the outset. Whether the sustainably sourced bamboo paper used for the prints, the FSC certified solid wood frames or the low impact, plastic free packaging, a carbon-neutral mindset paved the way for their store to be a part of the sustainable movement, and nature-inspired interior photography and eco-conscious graphics were included to reflect this.
